Traditional extracurricular sports programs in schools are made up of a group of students interested in playing basketball, volleyball, football, or other physical activities to ultimately compete against other schools to, hopefully, become the reigning champions within the district. These basketball ballers or volleyball spikers or football stars all share something in common: students dedicated to practicing the sport as part of a school team. They become better connected with their teammates, share a passion for the sport, and are actively engaged in good health, mentally and physically. These same concepts and benefits are encompassed in esports leagues in schools.
Introducing an esports league into your school can promote play for every student and is a more inclusive extracurricular activity for those who may not be interested in traditional competitive sports. Move your gamers from playing at home leisurely to playing with an organized competitive multiplayer team with their school.
Live streams, discussions, training, school vs. school esports. What are you waiting for?
High School esports teams can bring a number of immediate and long-term benefits to the participating students. If your school needs a push in the right direction, share these benefits with school administrators to get the conversation started. Then reach out to us to help furnish your team with the necessary tools to conquer the field!
Esports helps students learn valuable skills including quick reflexes, strategic thinking, teamwork, collaboration, goal setting, preparation, and managing successes and failures.
Esports is a fast-growing industry that offers many job opportunities including careers related to programming, esports team management, game development, graphic design, marketing, video production, and STEAM fields.
Students who compete in high school activities do better in school both through improved GPA and test scores, and have increased expectations for continuing education.
Competitive esports provide a way for students interested in gaming to get out of the solitary mindset, and meet in person on a regular basis, while also providing a sense of belonging and increased self-esteem for those who might otherwise opt-out of school activities.
When students do well, schools do well. High schools that support esports have the opportunity to bring in new sources of revenue from sponsors, advertising and other funding.
